Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where can I find new patient forms?

When you first arrive and meet our staff, you’ll fill out your new patient paperwork. This helps our team get to know you better. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes early to complete your paperwork.

  • Are all patients adjusted the same way?

No. The doctor of chiropractic investigates each patient’s spinal condition with specific tests and develops an individualized treatment plan for each patient. Each adjustment will work to correct misalignments in the spine called subluxations.
The resulting recommendations are based on years of training and experience. Each patient’s care is uniquely different from every other patient.

  • How does Chiropractic work?

Chiropractic restores your body’s innate ability to regulate and heal itself. Everything in your body including cells, tissues, and organs are designed to resist disease and illness when they are under the proper control of your nervous system. In chiropractic, the natural approach to better health is to identify and remove subluxations from your nervous system. With improved spinal function, there is improved nervous system function.
The goal of the chiropractor is to remove interference that may be impairing normal health through specific chiropractic adjustments, allowing your body to heal itself. A healthy spine and a healthy lifestyle are your keys to optimal health!

  • Do children need Chiropractic care?

Did you know that spinal trauma can occur at birth? Because of this, many parents chose to have their newborns checked for vertebral subluxation. As with any patient, but especially children, specific spinal treatment plans are designed for the unique issues in the individual’s spine. Many childhood health problems that are minimized by the healthcare industry can be traced to the spine.
Many times, health problems that appear in adulthood could have been prevented by having young people checked by a chiropractor at an early age. Most parents of children that receive regular chiropractic adjustments report that their children enjoy them and are healthier than their peers.

  • Can a person who had back surgery see a chiropractor?

Yes. Unfortunately, more than half of people who had spinal surgery will see a return of their original symptoms within a few months or years. They may even face the prospect of more spinal surgeries. This is called “failed back surgery syndrome.” Chiropractic care can be used to prevent back surgeries.

  • Does Chiropractic work for all types of health problems?

No, however, chiropractic care is known to treat a very wide variety of health problems that are not necessarily considered “back” problems due to its ability to improve nerve system function. The body has a natural ability to heal itself and with normal nerve supply, that ability can be enhanced to help improve a variety of health problems.

  • Can I tell if I have a subluxation?

Not always, subluxations don’t always cause acute pain. There are many diseases that one may have for an extended period of time before exhibiting any symptoms. A subluxation is no different. That’s why one must receive regular spinal checkups to ensure the spine is free of any irregularities and subluxations.

  • Can I adjust myself?

No. It is impossible to adjust oneself safely. Chiropractic adjustments involve specific measurements and careful consideration by a doctor before they can be applied.

You may notice that if you bend or twist in a certain way, it may produce a “popping” sound that sometimes accompanies a chiropractic adjustment. Unfortunately, this type of joint manipulation is usually counterproductive, and it could be dangerous to an unstable spine.
